College and Career Counsellor Needed– Part time (Kingston)
We are excited to invite applications for a Career and College
Counsellor to join the Campion College Guidance and Counselling team
starting in May 2014! Campion College is a diverse community of
students, parents and staff striving to grow intellectually, socially, physically and spiritually in order to make wise decisions and work co-operatively, so as to develop confident, critically-conscious and useful citizens who will shape a more just society.
The successful candidate will work closely with the school counsellors, student assistants, teachers and parents to help students explore various career paths and university opportunities both locally and around the world.
The duties of the successful candidate will include classroom instruction with students focusing on life skills and careers; provide individual and group career and college counseling and academic advising (eg. CSEC and CAPE subject selection) for students and parents; coordinate and host the College Visit Series and the annual Career Day; write letters of recommendation for assigned students; visit colleges; administer the PSAT, SAT and ACT exams and manage the Career and College
Counselling Resource Centre.
A bachelor degree is required. A graduate degree in a related field preferred. Ideal candidates will have a proven track record of:
i. Strong communication skills
ii. Working knowledge of the application process to local, regional and international institutions (specifically in the US, Canada and UK)
iii. Excellent interpersonal skills
